Hearts: A Classic Card Game for Everyone Hearts is a beloved card game that combines fun and strategy for players of all ages. This trick-taking card game is played with a standard deck of 52 cards among four players, with each player receiving 13 cards. How to Play Hearts: Each player is dealt 13 cards at the beginning of the game. The game starts with the player holding the 2 of Clubs, who must play this card first. During the first trick, players cannot play hearts or the queen of spades, even if they don’t have a card of the leading suit. Subsequent players must follow suit if they can. If they don’t have a card of the same suit, they can play any card. Hearts cannot be played until a heart has been discarded (broken) in a previous trick. Once a heart is broken, players must be cautious, as winning tricks with hearts can lead to penalty points. The player who plays the highest card of the leading suit wins the trick. The game continues until all cards are played, and points are tallied based on the cards won. The game ends when a player reaches 50 points or more, and the player with the lowest total score at that point is declared the winner. Basic Rules of the Game: The objective of Hearts is to avoid accumulating points. Players must follow suit when possible, aiming not to win tricks that contain hearts or the queen of spades, which carry penalty points. If a player wins all the hearts and the queen of spades in a single round, this is known as "Shooting the Moon." In this case, that player’s score resets to 0, while all other players receive a penalty of 26 points. At the end of the game, the player with the lowest score wins.
